Framing Our Own Stories: Women in Production Panel
Women’s Heritage Day at History Park. March 7, 1:00-4:00 PM.
This panel brings together women media producers working in film, photography, and digital storytelling to explore how gender and power shape the stories we see and the ones we don’t. Featured panelists will discuss how women are reclaiming representation and creating media through a contemporary feminist lens. The conversation will be led by Tricia Creason-Valencia of PowerHouse San Jose, an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and Creative Ambassador for the City of San José, whose work centers storytelling as a tool for connection and social change. Panelist Nitrate Fox (Britt Bradley), is an award-winning alternative process photographer and museum professional whose work uses the historic wet-plate collodion photography process to examine gender, power, and visibility. Jennifer Gonzalez is a Director of Photography/Cinematographer with a background in journalism whose immigrant story has shaped her unique perspective, fueling her passion for storytelling and her dedication to representing diverse narratives through her work. Farran Tabrizi is a Filmmaker/Editor and Creative Partner at Unmuted Studio, a San Jose-based podcast studio committed to amplifying women’s voices. This panel invites the public to engage in a thoughtful conversation about creative practice and why who frames our stories matters.
