PowerHouse San Jose presents shedding. burning. arriving. An artful examination of personal liberation, this show is a collective and cohesive story told through music and poetry. shedding. burning. arriving. is curated and performed by Esther Young and her band Eve's Heaven. With a special nod to Women's History Month, guest artists include bassist Sam Munoz-Kelly, poet Kim Johnson, spoken word performer Kristina Robertson, playwright and zine-maker Marissa Martinez, and dancer Paulina Huynh Nhu.

We’re launching the very first of our PowerHouse Movie Night Series with Wonder Woman — directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot.

This isn’t just about watching a superhero movie — it’s about celebrating what happens when women are behind the lens shaping the stories we grow up with, root for, and see ourselves in. From directing to producing to performance, this film represents a major step forward in women-led storytelling in blockbuster cinema.

A discussion with women media producers working in film, photography, and digital storytelling to explore how gender and power shape the stories we see and the ones we don’t. Featured panelists will discuss how women are reclaiming representation and creating media through a contemporary feminist lens.

This special workshop will be held at the Google Visitor Center in Mountain View, CA.

In this playful, hands-on creativity workshop with PowerHouse co-founder | filmmaker Tricia Creason-Valencia, tap into the joy and pain of lived experiences through a combination of poetry writing and photography with Google Pixel phones. 

Attendees will create short “I Am” poems, then turn the lens on themselves—literally—using Google Pixel portrait photography to creatively frame who they are and how they want to be seen.

We want to invite you to our next PowerHouse event: a workshop on crafting a professional biothat shines!

During the workshop, we’ll help you highlight your skills and accomplishments and encourage you to articulate your Values and Vision expressed in your authentic voice. We will facilitate a supportive creative process including: brainstorming, writing - with helpful templates - and feedback and editing in small groups. The workshop will help you combat “imposter syndrome” and recognize the impact you have on your community, guaranteed to shine through in your newly crafted bio!
